Bread-and-Butter Pudding Recipe


INGREDIENTS:

  • 55 grams Butter
  • 6 slices bread
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • DIRECTIONS:

Preheat the oven to 180 c.
Grease a dish with a litter of the butter.
cut the crusts off the bread.
Spread one side of each of the bread with remaining butter.
Cover the base of the dish with overlapping bread, butter side up. Sprinkle half the raisins evenly over the bread, then lightly sprinkle with a little nutmeg and cinnamon.
repeat this layer one more time, finishing with the raisins on top.
In a saucepan heat the milk and cream.
In a bowl beat the eggs with 3 tablespoons of the sugar, vanilla extract, and 
pour the warm milk over the eggs, whisking continuously.
Pour egg mixture over the bread. Gently press the bread down into the liquid.
Sprinkle the remaining tsp of sugar over the surface.
Set aside for 30 mins.
After 30 mins, bake the pudding in the hot oven for 40 to 45 mins, until the surface is golden brown.
